About the Denver Institute of Technology
The Denver Institute of Technology became Westwood College – Denver North in 1997. This school is the flagship campus of the Westwood College system, which includes schools in five states and an additional campus on the south side of Denver.
Westwood’s Denver North campus is located a little over nine miles from downtown Denver. Although there is no on-campus housing at this school, students who want to live near campus can talk to a campus-based Collegiate Housing Services representative to arrange the lease of a furnished apartment. With a bus stop for Denver’s public transportation system and major highways nearby, students have options for commuting to this school.
Academics
Westwood College – Denver North is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools and offers one diploma and 18 associate’s and bachelor’s degree programs. Fields of study include business administration, dental assisting, information technology, game software development and criminal justice. Several of Westwood’s programs also have programmatic accreditation, such as the automotive technology program, which is accredited by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation.
Westwood College – Denver North has 80,000 square feet of classrooms, labs and other educational space, including three video gaming labs and an automotive facility with six bays. The campus also includes courtroom lab and two medical labs.
Admissions
Aspiring Westwood College students must talk to an admissions representative before applying to the school. Along with completing the online application, applicants must supply proof of obtaining a high school diploma or GED. Additionally, English proficiency and college readiness must be demonstrated through minimum ACT or SAT test scores or through Wonderlic, Inc. assessments.
