Description
SINCE 1970, the Specs Howard School of Media Arts has offered hands-on training and project-oriented learning, and today, over 15,000 Specs graduates are working throughout the world in all aspects of the media arts.
The Specs Howard School of Media Arts is dedicated to inspiring, educating and motivating future leaders in the media arts. We continuously monitor and evaluate both our student outcomes and the achievement of our institutional goals so that we may improve our efforts for our students, staff, employers, and community.
The Specs Howard staff and faculty take an active interest in every student’s individual development, providing students with structured opportunities to succeed in simulated job situations. Under the supervision and guidance of faculty members who have worked, and continue to work, in the media industry, students are taught theory in traditional classroom settings, and that knowledge is then reinforced through hand-on labs and field work.
Whenever possible, students are offered internship opportunities (usually unpaid) in the communications and media industries to enrich their educational experience. (Internships, while strongly encouraged, are not a requirement for graduation from any SHS program.)
The Career Services Department at Specs Howard actively generates job leads and works individually with graduates to maximize their possibilities for timely and appropriate job placement. And since graduates of the Specs Howard School have been working in the industry since 1970, many Specs alumni are currently employed in upper-level management positions and turn to Specs Howard as a source for entry-level candidates for employment.
